oh my god... i am so super pissed wif blogger larz....
it freakin got problems uploadin my fotos again... man.. this is like the 238982379th times already... wanna blog bout a few things but looks like i can oni blog bout last fri as i oni managed to upload these fotos...
and so, had my first DBG (developmental biology and genetics) practical.. and we were studying Drosophila melanogaster aka fruitfly...
the culture of fruitfly...
the white stuffs u see at the sides of the bottle are parvae and pupae...
this is the microscope that we use to observe the fruitflies...quite different from the ones we used for other modules...
as u know, we cant possibly observe a flyin fruitfly under that microscope... so, we put them for a short nap... we cant kill dem in order to observe them....
dippin the bud into the low concentration of choloform...
then stick it into the bottle of fruitflies and watch dem snoozin away!!!
give the bottle some good tappin and the fruitflies drop to the bottom...
look how small the fruitflies are...
go on!!!take a peek through the eyepiece...
ta-dah!!!
there is a sucker.... can u see it??? can you??? can you???
i din know that it was possible to use the camera to take foto direct from the eyepiece... but it was quite difficult as i have to position the camera lens repeatedly at the eyepiece till i see the image on my camera's screen... it was really quite amazin to study dem, probin dem around the microscope stage without hurtin them... i remebered there is this occasion when i was observin the fruitfly, i could see it movin slightly... man!!! it was regainin conciousness!!! gotta get that fly back into the bottle before it escape!!!
they have the tendency to mutate... we saw quite alot of MUTANTS that day... the worst kind of mutation are those flies with eyes or legs growin all over the body... but we dun get to observe those though... guess i would be freaked out...
